How do I know if I am registered?
Confirmation of your race entry would have been emailed to you from Eventbrite. You can also log into your account on eventbrite.com to check your registration status or change any information.
Can I transfer my registration?
Refunds are not available. However, you are able to transfer your spot. Please log-in to your Eventbrite account prior to race day to change the name and data under your registration. This is VERY important! Participating under someone else's name without changing the information to the new participant is strictly prohibited. Unless race bibs have the correct information, it will alter all race results!
Can I walk or run the course without a race bib?
No! All people on the race route are required to wear their race bib that they purchased, or received, in their name only. This is because of legal reasons - if anyone is participating in the race for free, they are not covered by insurance and may cause the school to be liable should a mishap occur.
How many people are expected to participate in the event?
We are expecting approximately 600 people.
Can I donate to the Kootenay Fun 5?
Please click here for information on sponsorship and donation opportunities. All Net proceeds from the race are directed to sport and technology initiatives at Kootenay Christian Academy.
Is there a race course map available?
Please see our Course Map for details on the planned race course. Note that these may change due to weather or other unexpected events.
What will the weather be like?
As we are in the mountains, the weather can be variable and often unpredictable! Note that it might be wet at this time of year, so please plan ahead in order to make sure you are dressed appropriately (ie. those brand new, bright white trainers might not be the best choice!).
I'm planning to run with a stroller, will the course allow this?
This course is either paved or packed gravel and will be no problem with your running stroller. We require stroller-pushers to start with the walkers.
How do I get my race package?
Race package pick up will be scheduled on Friday, May 8th from 2:30-5:30 and the morning of Saturday, May 9th at 1200 Kootenay Street N. You will receive a final informational email the week of the race (please check your trash folder if you haven't seen any emails from us!).
Can I pick up race packs for my family members, or does everyone need to come retrieve their own?
It's not a problem for you to pick up race packs for your spouse and/or children.
Where should I park?
Help us make this event even greener and carpool with your friends! There is ample parking available at the race and traffic control will assist you in finding a great spot.
Where is the start and finish area?
The start/finish line are located in the green area located adjacent to 1200 Kootenay Street North.
Will there be water/aid stations?
Bring your own water bottle and help us save paper cups!! Water stations will be set up at the start/finish area, and at the halfway point on the course route.
Course Marshals and First Aid Attendants will be stationed along all race course and will have radio contact with the main first aid station at the start/finish area. Please ask them for help if needed!
Can I walk instead of run?
Absolutely!
Strollers and children - are they allowed?
Yes, Yes, Yes! Please ensure you register ALL participants. Little ones under 5 are FREE - unless you would like a t-shirt and swag bag (only available until April 15).
Can I have my iPod on while walking/running?
We don’t recommend wearing ear buds during the event, as you may not be able to hear course marshals with important information.
Who receives awards?
The top 3 male and female finishers for each age group will receive an award.
All participants who register before April 15 will receive an official 2020 Kootenay Fun 5 race t-shirt and swag bag at the time of registration. Great draw prizes will also be given out throughout the event and during the awards ceremony.
Where do I return my timing chip?
Your timing chip is disposable and will be attached to your paper bib. You may keep your bib as a souvenir!
What is there to do after the race?
Join us for lunch ($4 Save On Foods bbq), a cup of coffee ($2 Starbucks), and check out our Toonie Auction (win a chance at all sorts of great gift cards for $2). Also tour our pre- and post-race expo to see exhibitor tables with lots of great products to sample and buy, hang out and listen to some music!
Please note that there is no ATM on site, so don't forget to have cash on hand so you can take advantage of the great deals available!
